Get To Know Your #selfie

Hey everyone!

Not really sure what to write about today so I'm just going to spill out my thoughts. Self-expression... A lot of us may think we're open and outgoing people. Yes, we may throw the best parties and have our Instagram account open for the whole world to see, welcoming them into our “life” but how often do we REALLY welcome people into our lives? Show them a part of ourselves that we don't even see often. How we really feel about ourselves? I use to cringe about the fact of opening up to someone, well to be honest it still makes me cringe. It’s that uncomfortable feeling of showing someone who we really are and that fear of what will they think of us? Ughh the fears we have to be ourselves. Now I’m not saying everyone has a fear about being themselves, but I know I do. Even sharing all these posts, are quite uncomfortable. It’s human nature for us to judge, but when we look past the judgement we can really begin to create beautiful, strong, lasting relationships. Not only with ourselves but also with others. Oh the thoughts that keep running into my mind writing this post “They’re going to think I’m so lame? Who does she think she is telling us about being ourselves?” and the insecurities go on...so to try to answer my own question of : What makes a #SelfieOnPoint? To answer that is to go back to the title of this post GET TO KNOW YOUR SELFIE. It’s simple, try to acknowledge that your #selfie is really who you are from the inside, not how we look or act from the outside. When we come to a place of showing any kind of vulnerability to a friend or loved one, not only can that person give you the best advice in the world.

However, it will really take a load off any sadness, pain or resentment that your hanging on to. Awakening the beautiful emotions that help us flourish and motivate us every single moment of the day. So here are a couple of exercises that I have found really useful:

1) Confront your feelings to your self, really try to feel them, even cry if you have to. That way you can really bring your emotions to surface and see what the lessons are behind the challenge you are experiencing, turning it into a healing source in your life.

2) Go to a friend/family member that you feel you can trust or feel comfortable speaking to and tell them what’s been bothering you?

OUTCOME:

A) The person you have opened up to may be/ has been through the same situation/ experienced the same emotions.
B)Sometimes just having someone listen will take off that heavy feeling inside you.
C) You may feel a closer connection that person. That person will most likely open up as well.
D) Feeling a sense of relief even if that person totally doesn’t understand what you're going through.

3) Always remind yourself how unique and valuable you are and BE YOURSELF.
